Hey, Iā€™m Maggie Banks, but my friends call me Penny.

I design physical interfaces for Google Hardware products.

I care about creating thoughtfully crafted interactions for physical objects. I believe the artifacts we surround ourselves with should be designed and built to last. I am constantly making with my hands to learn more about craft, materials, processes, and form.

I am a recent grad from Carnegie Mellon University where I studied Product Design and Human-Computer Interaction. After school, I joined the Google Nest team as part of the Associate Design Program. Previously, I interned at YouTube and Jet.com.

CMU School of design wrote a short piece about the IDSA merit award.
